If you like salads, you most likely prefer them because of the dressings they come with. so, Why not make your own dressing that is high on taste and nutrition with your choice of ingredients? While not all salad dressings are compatible with every dish, here are five dressings that universally rank as most loved.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil Vinaigrette

Extra virgin olive oil is rich in antioxidants; olive oil is considered as good as any other superfood. It helps boost memory and brain functions while lowering your blood sugar levels. Extra virgin olive oil, also known as EVOO, helps you lose weight even If consumed in excess.
Make it: Mix 1 spoon of EVOO with 1 spoon of balsamic vinegar. To this add 1 teaspoon of ground mustard powder and oregano. You can also squeeze in half a lemon juice with finely-chopped garlic.

Pesto

Used mainly in pasta, pesto can also be used in salads. Made with ground basil leaves, pesto is rich in proteins, fibres, and boosts iron levels in your body.
Make it: When made with EVOO and herbs, pesto is yummy and filling. Add this to lean meat bites and foods like sweet potato and quinoa for a nutritious meal. You can also add sea salt, cashew, and other nuts.

Guacamole

Guacamole used in salad dressings is quite the trend nowadays and for good reasons. Made from avocados, which is already a superfood this dish is loaded with healthy fats. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, this is the perfect balance to stay healthy.
Make it: Make your own version of guacamole based on how tangy you like it. Grind and make a rough paste of avocados and add in your own herbs and spices. For added flavour, add in apple cider vinegar and lemon juice with black pepper and salt.

Tahini

Made from sesame seeds, tahini is a healthy and simple dressing famous in the Mediterranean and middle-eastern countries. Be it as a dip or drizzled over your leafy greens, tahini is tasty. The best part is: even though it looks creamy, it has no dairy content. It is low in sodium and helps increase blood flow while providing fibre and proteins.
Make it: Mix 2 tablespoons of tahini in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and add minced garlic, chives, and black pepper. You can make your own tahini with sesame seeds and a dash of olive oil in the blender.

Hummus

A creamy dressing made from chickpeas, hummus is a favourite with everyone. Packed with nutrients, this dressing can be modified with anything. You can make you own versions with tahini and EVOO, lemon juice and herbs. Chickpeas are rich in vitamins A, E, and C and are easy to mix with salads.
Make it: Grind chickpeas, water, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and garlic powder into a fine creamy paste for the best hummus sauce for healthy salads.
